Google Introducing a Hybrid Approach to Work for its Employees


Google is making a new workplace. Keeping in view the COVID-19 situation, Google CEO Sundar Pichai sent an email to all employees stating that about 20 percent of employees would work from home, on the other hand, 20 percent would move to the new workplace, the rest of 60 percent of the employees will continue working from their present location.

“We will shift to a hybrid work week where Google employees will spend three days within the workplace and the rest of two days wherever they work best. There will also be roles that may need to be on site more than three days a week due to the nature of the work” stated by the CEO.

Moreover, Google will offer many facilities and opportunities for its employees to move around. In mid-June, the company will introduce a process that will allow workers to access work from some different offices, not only this the employees have the opportunity to work up to four weeks away from their allocated office temporarily. Google is working to develop more remote roles and even teams which are not all in one place.

“By mid-June, your PAs and functions will come back with a process by which you can apply to move to another office. Once you get approvals, they’ll check whether business goals can be met in the new location and whether your team has the right infrastructure in the site to support your work,” Pichai informed. The company will allow you to complete work away from the team or office based on their roles and team needs.

“Whether you opt to transfer to a different office or choose for completely remote work, your compensation will be adjusted according to your new location,” Pichai says of the policy. Google will give 4 weeks per 12 months the place employees can work from wherever with supervisor approval.

The company announced the next global holiday will be on May 28, 2021. This will help their company employees to recharge during the 2021 pandemic.

Pichai stated that the way we process our work and make it accessible is through flexibility. He said the new brand modifications are aimed to assist the worker to give their best at work. In April, Google is opening its US workplace.
